Why we started Pristine and Clean

Pristine and Clean was founded in 2006 by Rich, after years of watching the local window cleaning trade get a bad name. Cleaners ghosting customers in the spring, taking cash with no paperwork, doing the glass and skipping the frames. It was the kind of work people had stopped expecting much from.

We started with a single round in Thornbury and a simple promise: turn up when we say we will, do the whole job, and come back if it’s not right. Twenty years later, that’s still the entire business plan.

“Most of our customers came to us because their last cleaner stopped showing up. The job’s not complicated — you just have to do it properly, every time. That’s it. That’s the whole secret.”

The way we work

Reliable rounds, fixed prices, and the bits other cleaners forget. We’re a real business — VAT-registered, fully insured, with a proper invoicing system and a customer round we’ve been on for over a decade.

We use pure-water reach-and-wash for windows so the finish is spot-free, even in the rain. We use vacuum-pole gutter clearing so we never put a ladder against your fascia. We hand-finish our fascia and soffit cleans at low level so it actually lasts. None of this is exotic — it’s just how the job should be done.

We’re not a national franchise, we don’t subcontract to strangers, and we don’t take cash. Every visit, a note goes through the door with the job details and how to pay. Every job has a fixed price agreed up front. Every customer has a real human at the other end of the phone.

Built on Thornbury, run from Thornbury

We’re based in BS35 and most of the round runs through Thornbury, Bradley Stoke, Yate and the surrounding villages. We’ve added postcodes over the years — BS9 in central Bristol on a Friday, GL12 and GL13 across the Severn — but the core round is still the same streets we started on in 2006.

That matters because local rounds are reliable rounds. We know which roads are sheltered, which faces get the worst tree drop, which gable ends need the longest pole. It’s the kind of knowledge that only builds up if you stay still.

Our values, the short version

The non-negotiables.

Show up

Texted the day before, every time. If we say Tuesday, we mean Tuesday. Most of our customers came to us because their last cleaner stopped showing up — we make sure that’s not us.

Do the whole job

Frames, sills, and doors — every visit, no upsell. Hand-finished fascias. Biocide treatment after drive cleans so the finish lasts. The bits other cleaners skip are how we keep our customers.

Come back if it’s not right

If we’ve missed a spot, ring or text within 24 hours and we’ll come back and put it right. No quibble. It happens rarely — but when it does, the answer is always yes.
